A $550M Round and an $8.8B Valuation
Swedish startup Legora, which builds AI tools for the legal industry, announced a $550M Series E round on October 21, 2026. According to Reuters, the funding round valued the company at $8.8B.
The announcement came on the back of strong financials: Legora's annual recurring revenue (ARR) has passed $200M — double the $100M figure at the time of its Series D round in early 2026. The company now employs more than a thousand people.
"AI is changing the role of the lawyer — leaving more time for judgment and counsel. At the same time, how law firms and the in-house legal departments of companies are organized, and how their work gets done, is changing too," Legora CEO and founder Max Junestrand told Reuters.
Atreides Management Led the Round
The Series E round was led by Atreides Management. Reuters reported the news on October 21, 2026. According to the outlet, the round drew several major new investors: Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners, and J.P. Morgan.
Legora's existing investors also took part in the new round. The Series E was thus raised from a mix of new and returning investors — the round's investor base was refreshed and expanded.
Capital to Flow Into Three Areas
Reuters reports that the newly raised capital will go toward accelerating growth in North America, where the company plans to expand its presence further.
Legora also intends to expand across European and Asia-Pacific markets — part of the funds will be spent on those goals.
The third area is technological development: part of the capital will be invested in advancing the platform's agentic capabilities.
Revenue Doubled in a Year
According to TechCrunch, Legora's annual recurring revenue has passed $200M. The company disclosed the figure on October 21, 2026.
That is double the level at the time of the Series D round in early 2026, when annual recurring revenue stood at $100M.
The team keeps growing — Legora now employs more than a thousand people.
Competition in the Legal AI Market Is Heating Up
Legora's announcement came a month after a similar one from its biggest rival, Harvey. As TechCrunch notes, Harvey also raised $550M, but at a $15.5B valuation.
According to TechCrunch, the back-to-back announcements reflect intensifying competition in legal AI: within a single month, each of the two companies raised $550M.
About the Company
Founded in Sweden, Legora builds AI tools for law firms and corporate in-house legal departments. The company is led by co-founder and CEO Max Junestrand.
Series E was Legora's second major funding round of 2026: at the time of the Series D at the start of the year, the company's annual recurring revenue was $100M; it has now passed $200M. The team continues to expand — headcount has passed a thousand.
The new round was led by Atreides Management. It included new investors such as Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners, and J.P. Morgan, alongside the company's existing backers. Company representatives told Reuters that the raised funds will go toward accelerating growth in North America, expanding operations across Europe and Asia-Pacific markets, and developing the platform's agentic capabilities.
