Bluesky has significantly expanded Attie, its experimental artificial intelligence platform. On October 15, 2026, during a conversation at the TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 conference, company CEO Toni Schneider announced a new tool that lets users create websites, quizzes, games, polls, and other interactive social experiences. This is a serious pivot from the platform's original direction: Attie is becoming not just a feed tool, but an environment for building full-fledged digital products.
What Attie was and what changed
Attie originally launched as an experimental platform for creating personalized social feeds with the help of artificial intelligence. The new tool turns it into a full creation environment: ordinary users will be able to do with AI what only developers could do before — build sites, games, quizzes, and polls. Schneider, who announced the news, previously ran Automattic and was a partner at True Ventures; he took over the company on an interim basis in March after Jay Graber stepped down, and is now leading Bluesky into the AI era as its permanent chief. The Verge independently reported the same day: Attie now lets people create games and apps to share on the social network, confirming that the platform has outgrown its original boundaries.
What «social vibe coding» means
Vibe coding is a way of creating software with artificial intelligence by giving instructions in natural language, without learning a programming language. Over the last two years it has spread widely among solo developers. Schneider, on the Disrupt stage, called the new capability «social vibe coding» — vibe coding for teams. According to him, today's vibe coding is mostly a single-user experience; Attie makes it possible to build together or to build for a group.
Social vibe coding is vibe coding for your team. This tool is designed for building together, not for working alone.

The ATProto connection and the distribution question
When working with Attie, users can connect their own AI model or use open-weight models. The created websites and games are tied to the user's ATProto identifier — meaning they live on the decentralized protocol that powers Bluesky. That protocol also supports other apps that make up the decentralized social web — the «Atmosphere». Attie additionally suggests what can be created based on the user's public Bluesky profile.
According to company COO Rose Wang, what makes Attie especially interesting is that it comes together with Bluesky's distribution network: today everyone is building something, but who will use what was built — the distribution problem is unsolved, and Attie solves it with a ready-made audience. According to TechCrunch, Bluesky has 47 million registered users — a big opportunity for small creators. At the same time, a decline in network activity has also been noted: some users tried the platform and then returned to X.
Plans for developers
The new tool is part of Bluesky's broader plan to revive activity on the network: in the coming months the company intends to focus on developers and teams. According to Schneider, developers' biggest request was adding support for private data to the protocol — that capability is now in alpha testing and is planned to launch by the end of the year. At the same time, Attie serves as the company's testing ground for AI ideas — new AI concepts are first trialed here, then moved into the main app. The decentralized social web is called the «Atmosphere», and Bluesky is considered one of its largest members.
The era of small social experiences
Schneider believes there should be many interesting small social experiences designed for friends — it is not necessary to talk to the whole world every time. In his view, social networks should not always demand addressing a global audience — valuable experiences can also happen within a close circle. This approach comes at a time of intensifying competition among AI tools: in the Google Play store, apps created with vibe coding have been singled out as a separate category — we wrote about this earlier. With Attie, Bluesky is combining AI creation tools with a social layer — users not only create, but can immediately share what they built with their audience. Detailed technical specifics are given in the TechCrunch article.
