Indian IT major HCLTech on Monday, October 12, 2026, announced a Global Premier Partnership with Anthropic. The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of agentic AI solutions among enterprise clients, with a primary focus on safety, cybersecurity, and governance. The announcement was issued simultaneously from Santa Clara (US) and Noida (India). Reuters also reported the deal.

Business unit and center of excellence

Under the agreement, HCLTech will establish a dedicated Anthropic business unit along with a Center of Excellence (CoE). The new structure will develop agentic AI solutions and provide enterprise clients with secure sandbox environments for deploying Claude models.

The center's tasks include helping clients adopt AI-native engineering practices, training workforces, and building the organizational capabilities needed to operate agentic AI safely at scale. According to the company's press release, deployments will run through forward-deployed engineers (FDEs): HCLTech specialists will work directly inside client systems and safely move Claude-based solutions into production environments.

Services teams to build industry solutions

HCLTech's services teams will build industry solutions and offerings powered by Claude, Cowork, and Claude Code. These solutions will be tailored to the specific needs of various industries. The company, listed on India's National Stock Exchange (NSE: HCLTECH) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE: HCLTECH) as a global technology company, draws on its extensive client base.

As Business Today writes, the deal comes as large IT companies move from AI experiments to full-scale deployment. HCLTech will help clients move beyond the experimentation stage and bring agentic AI into day-to-day operations.

ISV partnership and product integration

HCLSoftware will gain the status of an independent software vendor (ISV) partner of Anthropic under the agreement. The status gives the company the right to integrate Claude capabilities into its select enterprise products, as well as access to Anthropic's advanced models.

The integration covers four areas: cybersecurity, automation, business process applications, and application development. The company's announced list names HCL BigFix and HCL AppScan products; the integration will also enable the Actian AI analyst. The company announced this in its official press release.

In addition, HCLTech will integrate Claude and Claude Code into its AI Force agentic software engineering platform. The platform is used in workflows such as IT support, code remediation, and digital employee services. According to the company, these processes are supported by policy guardrails, exception handling, and human oversight for high-impact changes.

Executive comments

HCLTech CEO and Managing Director C Vijayakumar explained the deal through the combination of the company's two strengths — the scale of a global systems integrator and product depth as an ISV.

"Few technology companies combine the scale of a global systems integrator with the product depth of an ISV. That gives us a rare advantage in securely engineering and deploying agentic AI at scale and delivering the business outcomes that matter most to our clients," said C Vijayakumar.

Anthropic co-founder and President Daniela Amodei tied the partnership to trust.

"AI can only be as useful as it is trustworthy, and we build Claude to give companies the confidence to bring it into their most sensitive and valuable work," said Daniela Amodei.

Why safety and governance are central

The agreement emphasizes safety and governance precisely because agentic AI systems can act autonomously in enterprise environments, making their oversight a decisive factor for clients. Secure sandbox environments, policy guardrails, and human oversight are designed to remove the main barriers to deploying agentic AI in sensitive corporate processes.

HCLTech has previously invested in programs preparing employees to work with AI; Anthropic's enterprise education initiatives are covered in detail in a site archive article. The new deal systematically continues this direction through the business unit and center of excellence.
